Staff and students at Fair Haven School celebrated World Read Aloud day to draw attention to the importance of reading and the joy of reading aloud. Students in grades K-3 visited the library media center where an all day reading extravaganza was in full swing! Small groups of students circulated through centers where they engaged in various activities. Students in 4th through 8th grade participated in classroom activities ranging from all - day read-ins to books being read aloud by special guests. Staff dressed up as their favorite book character and students dressed in cozy clothing or pajamas. Every teacher received a brand new picture book to read aloud to their students and to add to their classroom library. Every single student at Fair Haven School (well over 800!) went home with a book for their personal library thanks to a generous donation from Read to Grow in Branford, CT. A true appreciation for reading and great books was celebrated by everyone at Fair Haven on World Read Aloud Day.

Continuing a Fair Haven tradition, local firefighters and police officers came to our school to read to our young students on 9/11. Students in Pre K through 3rd grade were excited and very appreciative when officers stopped by to read a picture book related to 9/11 or one that describes the role of firefighters and police officers. Fair Haven thanks all of the officers for taking the time to visit our school and read to our students as well as for everything you do for our community and city!
The Fair Haven Pre K 8 School student, parent and teacher community gathered on Wednesday night to kickoff our summer reading program.
